Secret Chiefs 3 (ou SC3) est un groupe de rock instrumental créé en 1996 dont le leader n'est autre que le guitariste/compositeur Trey Spruance (ex Mr. Bungle et Faith No More). Le line up a changé à plusieurs occasions, autant lors de leurs enregistrements que sur scène car le les styles musicaux aussi évoluent. Du rock au surf en passant par de la musique arabe, indienne ainsi que le death metal, la musique électronique ...

Gregaldur est un projet bidouille de musique alternative Cherbourgeois né en 2005. Sa musique s'inspire de plusieurs styles musicaux, indie rock, musique minimaliste, electro-pop, expérimental… Guitariste, claviériste, bruitiste et joyeux acrobate de la pédale de sample, il bidouille des morceaux pop uniques. Bidouilleur de talent, Seul sur scène, il triture (ou plutôt torture) sa guitare, ses innombrables pédales et autres bizarreries électoniques avec un malsain plaisir. Gregaldur est peut être ce chainon manquant entre Rémi Bricka et Felix Kubin…

C'était un bel après-midi d'été quand j'avais 19 ans. Avec ma copine Iris du foyer de bonnes sœurs où j'habitais - et ouais quand tu es une fille qui arrive de province pour faire tes études sans le sou, tu as de forte chances d'atterrir dans un foyer de bonnes sœurs - on avait décidé d'aller pique-niquer au bois de Boulogne.

Arrivées là-bas, on marche on marche on marche. Et toujours zéro bons coins à pique-nique en vue. Bon alors on continue, et là au bout d'un certain temps, on trouve une jolie petite pinède. On déballe le chorizo tout ça tranquille bonne ambiance. Mais un demi-sandwich plus tard, on commence à se sentir pas très à l'aise. Normal car on se rend compte que des types nous matent à travers les fourrés. Là-dessus, j'aperçois au loin dans les buissons, un mec à poil (enfin presque) accroupi à côté de son vélo. Et je le vois enlever son short. Et remettre son short. Et enlever son short. Et le remettre. Comme ça toutes les 10 secondes. Là on a compris que la pinède était pas un coin pour jeunes filles naïves.

Ça va faire un dizaine d'années de ça, mais je me rappelle bien ce type. Avec le recul, je trouve ça émouvant cette histoire de short et j'ai envie de lui dédier ce mix.

Cela faisait une semaine que Savannah était en vacances d'été. Une semaine qu'elle ne savait vraiment pas quoi faire. Sa meilleure amie Olga était partie avec sa famille à Hawaï grâce à l'entreprise du père de cette dernière. Savannah se retrouvait donc toute seule avec son ennui. Elle était trop timide pour téléphoner à Enrico pour lui proposer d'aller au cinéma ou au karaoké avec elle. “Sonic Surgeon” came into being in London in 2008, but carries musical traces of an earlier musical life in the last century…

In the meantime, the surgeon of sound had found new life under the name Atlan as a communications consultant in the late 1980s, as a sometimes-lumberjack, and above all, as a painter since 1990.

A historic figure in artists’ squats, Atlan was at Pôle Pi (1996), Alter Nation, and the Croustie’s “gallery” on Avenue Montaigne, among others. Traces of his passage can be seen on a variety of industrial wasteland walls, in Lisbon, in Kassel for Documenta X, and in Esch/Alzette (Luxembourg). On canvas, he has exhibited at the Galerie Horizon in Paris, the Electron Libre, the Espace Beaurepaire in early 2010, and finally, the Miroiterie squat, where he is currently working, and will continue to do so until expulsion… A documentary was made on his work by Lily Tournay (“Atlan, Paintings or Mirrors?”, 2009), but the streets of Paris know him first and foremost as a mystifying character, the Sheep of Belleville, a little urban legend that made the waves of Arte Radio (2010):

This record was initially released by the Institut Coopératif de l'Ecole Moderne - Pédagogie Freinet (The Cooperative Institute of Modern School - Freinet's teaching method) and distributed with the issue number 79 (November-December 1975) of the magazine Art enfantin et créations. The songs presented in this record were created by children from secondary school and high school classes.

To say that these classes were like no others and that the teachers were not just any teachers may sound pretentious but it is certain that these songs could have never been composed without the particularly warm atmosphere that reigned in these children's groups. They didn't just come out of the blue either.

"Singing is like drawing..." and this is one of the child's means of expression, just like writing, dancing, etc and this is in this context that those songs were born. They were created in "French" class and not in music class. Sometimes one pupil composed the text first, and then found a melody, sometimes another classmate helped. But most of the time they were created as songs instead of being only texts with music. Then the other members of the group discovered the songs and learnt how to play it, always in a sharing and welcoming context.

The teachers and educators using Freinet's method (created by Célestin Freinet) intend to develop teaching practices rooted in a "social reality, in order to favour children's emancipation. They want school to be a place where every child can express himself, learns how to be responsible for himself, learns how to cooperate, experiment and open himself to the world. thanks to free text, free drawing, inter-school correspondance, printing and high school paper.... that is still in practice today.

The project of Baisers Volés, a new label specializing in re-edition, is to reissue some of these records, almost entirely created by the pupils of the Freinet classes in the 1970s.

Idependent Poland to Independent Ukraine

PL2UA compilation is an expression of solidarity and support of Polish musicians for people who suffer as a result of clashes in the Ukraine. By providing their music in digital form, the artists want to help those in need and those that require support. Independent can be understood in two ways: on the one hand as an independent music scene, and on the other as the independent Ukraine which is fought for by its people. Polish artists are supported by several artists from other countries of Eastern Europe, uncluding some Ukrainians as well. All tracks have been made available by the artists free of charge, most of them previously unreleased or prepared exclusively for this compilation.
PLN 10 is the minimum price for the entire compilation and PLN 3 - the minimum price for one song. But stick to the "name your price" principle. You can purchase the whole compilation or select individual songs - every amount of money is important. We will pass the funds collected to the "Open Dialogue" Foundation, acting, among others, for the benefit of the Ukraine.

ZARBOTH (post-rock turbulent, Paris)
Zarboth, c'est la réunion de Étienne Gaillochet (batteur, chanteur de We Insist!) et de Phil Reptil (guitariste à 8 cordes de La Théory du Reptil).
Zarboth explore les terrains contemporains d'un rock protéiforme, mêlant jazz-core, noise expérimentale et song-writing.
Le duo évolue entre écriture dense et complexe, et improvisation ; deux territoires séparés que la musique de Zarboth réunit en en effaçant la frontière.
Zarboth joue un rock libre, voire libéré, décomplexé, violent et ludique.
Leurs influences vont de Ruins à Claudia Quintet, de Zappa à No Means No, de Fred Frith à Pantera, de Zu à Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

"Secret Thirteen Mix 108” is a dynamic and deliberately measured mix that is a clear reflection of Kangding Ray’s current musical background and some of his early influences. In this conceptual selection the author of a mix is exploring a delicate connection between cultures of techno and popular music. However, in his mix Letellier professionally and smoothly incorporates a much wider palette of music styles ranging from industrial or glitch to experimental and world music. This makes his compilation richer, more flexible and compelling. The mix consists of 28 diverse records that were originally released between 1981 and 2013. However, fixed sound quality, exemplary beatmatching and extracted new formations break barriers of concrete time period that could be assigned to some of the records if they were played alone. Entire mix sounds relevant to nowadays subtle dance music scene, although Kangding Ray says that “the mix is not based on a super-actual stuff these days”. Emptyset, Ø, Rrose, AnD, Front 242, Jon Hassell, Autechre, D.A.F. are only a few names in this eclectic selection where works were creatively edited, adapted to every different sound expression and substantially mixed together. An accurate, complex, yet controversial or provocative layering of seemingly conflicting tracks gradually creates a complete, enduring and sometimes even slightly confusing wholeness that is quite similar to a multiplex Richard Sweeney’s abstract drawing “Untitled”. The basis of the mix stands on the intense, profound and progressively shifting rhythms, consistently developed repetitive digital percussions, immersing sound modulations and minimalistic melodies. Occasionally appearing hip-hop vocals, melancholic and polemic rhymes, sonorous sample cuts, various sound distortions and noises effectively turn this mix into a modern club music masterpiece. Wide, deep and lush sounding quality should leave no indifferent.

2 - Il ne peut pas être premier 2 fois de suite
3 - Le dernier a poster doit chroniquer (sous n'importe quelle forme) la semaine passée.
* Il n'est pas obligatoire de poster toutes les semaines. Mais les points n'augmentent évidement pas.

LE FLEUVE PYRATE (mauvaispourlesyeux, Rennes)
Une guitare lourde aux cordes en sous-tension, un magma de pédales, une voix de gorge et quelques vinyls débusqués dans une maison abandonnée, les ingrédients sont là pour un bon vieux drone des collines. Le fleuve pyrate voudrait faire du rock'n roll, du punk, du hardcore ; on s'en sort avec une tente de chaleur sonore qui laissera vos tympans en méditation. Poneys acceptés.

JAMES VAN DER BICKY (mauvaispourlesyeux, Bruxelles)
Se risquant en dehors des frontières de sa terre d'accueil, james van der bicky viendra défendre sa première cassette, sortie en début d'année : "Le prix du sachet de frites, et autres histoires belges". Un violon, quelques cassettes, un nounours et des doigts gras - une plongée en apnée dans le terroir intellectuel belge. Tout public.

Ca sera aussi l'occasion de découvrir la toute nouvelle compile du collectif, "BLACK is pour les yeux", dans sa version CDr numéroté à la main (100 exemplaires). On peut déjà l'écouter et la télécharger sur http://mauvaispourlesyeux.tk , comme l'ensemble du catalogue...

Centrale 7, c'est une friche industrielle entre Rennes et Angers (plus proches d'Angers d'ailleurs, c'est vers Segré). C'est un très bel endroit, alors si vous vous sentez le courage de viendre, ça vaut au moins le coup pour l'endroit (dans l'après-midi, on risque d'ailleurs de faire des excursions dans les usines abandonnées avoisinantes, si ça vous botte).
