This one is a heartbreaker, for the heartbroken.

X-press Feeders already sounds like greed. Billions of plastique pearls are not the worst of it. A temporally broken weapon manufacturing supporting chemistry supply-chain on the cost of the coast and it's inhabitants and the live-sustaining ocean. This is global capitalism, it's nothing but a POLLUTANT.

The ship carried 1486 containers with around 42 chemicals in over 700. Low and high-density polyethene nurdles, caustic soda, methanol, sodium methoxide, nitric acid, urea, vinyl acetate, epoxy resin (349 containers), lubricant oil (39 containers), and other chemical containers were among the compounds. There were also 81 dangerous containers, including lithium-ion batteries, copper slags, lead ingots, and electronic items that typically contained hazardous compounds. Following the disaster, it was found that there was still a risk of bunker oil leaking from the ship. The disaster’s most immediate and substantial impact was raw material, plastic pellets and other debris washing up on the beach several days after the major fire broke out on May 25, 2021.

(early experiments integrating the glass with modular synthesis)

Not being able to tour for the last year cornered me into rethinking how I made music, while performing online I quickly became unsatisfied with my set up of pedals. Outside of performance the limitations of my pedal set up became obvious even as I desperately experimented with patching them in weird and wonderful ways to stretch my mono signal into up to six parallel effects chains I still wanted more. Realising I was attempting to use my pedals like a modular synthesiser I decided to sell my pedal collection and take a deep dive into using Modular techniques to transform the ways I processed the glass.

These recordings are just some of my first experiments done as I started to integrate my glass signal with the new equipment, each track is an unedited improvisation using my glass signal to manipulate itself within a complicated patches where envelope followers and gates generated control every parameter of the sound with no overdubs or post of any kind. The sessions were originally intended for an LP but as I grow more confident with the gear I’ve decided to use newer material for said release and thought I’d compile some of my favourites from these early experiments for this subscriber only bandcamp release as a teaser for what’s to come.

Introducing Simonaitis, a dynamic DJ who embarked on his musical journey in 2011, initially exploring the realms of progressive breaks. Immersed in the vibrant scene, he forged connections with the Kaunas Ghia crew, contributing his unique flair to the Sankaba parties in Kaunas. Elevating his presence, Simonaitis became an integral part of the minimal.lt team. Known for his eclectic and slightly ironic taste in music, Simonaitis, as he's affectionately known, is a force to be reckoned with, captivating audiences with his distinct EBM vibes.

Matteo Uggeri (aka Barnacles) has been a huge fan of Nocturnal Emissions early works, especially the albums "Befehlsnotstand" and "Drowning in a Sea of Bliss".
When Nigel Ayers, founder of the band in 1980 in London, contacted him to contribute to Matteo's blog Concrete Shelves, his eyes popped out.

They afterwards met in Milan, played a gig together at the legendary Macao, became friend, and got involved into a remix project for Starlight Assembly on the US label Beacon Sound.
In 2022 it was then time to make something more structured together, so they exchanged some files between Milan and Cornwall.

The result is this album, actually composed "From Solstice to Equinox" of last year. It's focused one of Nigels and Matteo main passions: dub.

But it's of course a deeply weird version of it, with the mysterious vocals of the British cut-up in a nearly pop-oriented way by the Italian, who also added any sort of field recording to the analogue loops (guitar, samples, kbd...) of his companion. Moreover, the arrangements of cellos, violins, bass, ukulele and God-knows-what by the usual several Matteo's friend are completing this "hard to fit into a genre" set of songs.

Nocturnal Emissions was founded in 1980 by Nigel Ayers together with collaborators Daniel Ayers and Caroline K. They have released numerous records and CDs in music styles ranging from electro-acoustic, musique concrete, hybridised beats, sound collage, post-industrial music, ambient and noise music.
Early albums on the band's own Sterile Records were harsh noisy affairs, until Songs Of Love And Revolution turned to near synth pop melodies.

Matteo Uggeri is an Italian visual designer and composer from Milan. He invests himself in sound poetry of everyday life, organized around personal field recordings, captivating beats and melodic compositions arranged in a story-telling way. He has been active in music since 1996 and has collaborated with many groups from the Industrial and Goth scene, including M.B., Controlled Bleeding, De Fabriek, and This Mortal Coil singer Dominic Appleton.

Together, they create this dub-oriented beats with cut-up vocals that are hard to fit into a genre.

It's a playful affair and a pure pleasure to listen to.

In this episode the first hour comes from one from the FERMA Operators, DJ and producer Morphs. The second hour comes from 5ZYL, after his high energy Dj set from label's night in Athens and before his personal release ""Perplexity"", which is gonna be released from FERMA on 4th of May.

5ZYL comes from the urban district Pašilaičiai situated at the northern part of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. He has started his musical journey around 2007 by being influenced by old-school rave & breakbeat sound. By that moment, he started producing and djing at various illegal parties and open-airs.
In 2019 his 5ZYL alias was born and it didn’t take long to be noticed by Jensen Interceptor and by local talent hunters - PPP Records - where the debut ""Smoke These"" EP was launched. He has now released on labels like - International Chrome, Meta Moto, PPP, Crazed Behaviour, WhyPeopleDance, & PZ among others. His selections vary between Electro, Techno & EBM but they are certainly not limited to those styles.

An international collaboration between two producers, which was born despite 9212 km distance between Vilnius and Khabarovsk. 5ZYL is already known through his presence on Jensen Interceptor’s “International Chrome”, debut EP “Smoke These” and fresh “Main Goal” EP on PZ Records. Shit Control (Rodion Kirsanov) is an emerging producer from Khabarovsk city located at Amur river next to the most eastern border of China. Synthesizers lover and co-founder of the local underground music movement Tom Tom was already recognized by label CYBERJIT. The shape of “Krug” EP was started in Shit Control’s studio, topped up by 5ZYL in Vilnius, spiced up with False Persona remix in Bournemouth (UK) and mastered by Assembler Code in Sydney (Australia). Perfect testimony, that music is an international language without boundaries.
