Ce projet, issu des cerveaux fertiles des membres du net label UpItUp, vous propose de découvrir trois titres issus du catalogue de six labels dont les affinités artistiques sont plus qu’évidentes !

En anglais dans le texte, voici quelques mots de Tracky Birthday, une des têtes pensantes et artiste du label UpItup :

« Over the last decade, the free music scene has brought out numerous big names. Thanks to them the fact that there's an endless amount of incredibly "good" music available for free on the internet has become obvious to everybody. But of course there's also an even greater amount of incredibly shite music out there...

The good stuff isn't always easiest to find, and most users don't have time to browse through every artist's discography in order to discover the gems among their droppings. As the downfall of MySpace continues curatorship is regaining importance. Instead of plowing through songs on MySpace or Soundcloud today's users prefer sharing YouTube videos on Facebook. They just seem more interested in selected content. Netlabels experience some kind of Indian summer, receiving a lot of attention as if they were all new. They retrieve relevance as a source for presenting the hot. Berlin held a Netaudio Festival last year. New York's WFMU has created the Free Music Archive, "a social music website built around a curated library of free, legal audio." Fuck me sideways, the scene is a scene again!

That's why six of the most original netlabels have teamed up for one release – each label presenting three of their favorite tracks from their own catalog – to celebrate the idea of free music, and to simply bring you the shit de la shit!

Up it up, Ego Twister, Peppermill, Proot, Cock Rock Disco, and WM Recordings share similar backgrounds and philosophies, and they are proud to present their "Greatest it". You might happen to know all of the 18 smash hits but if you don't you better catch up, Mr. caveman. This might indeed be the flyest compilation on the internet.

The labels' idea was also to share audiences by introducing / pointing out each other. It's understood that it's ridiculously difficult choosing your 3 favorite tracks from a whole catalog so consider this the tip of the iceberg.

PS : comme Puyo Puyo me demandait pourquoi Da!Heard it ne fait pas partie de cette compilation, je me disais que la réponse ne serait pas superflue sur ce forum. C'est juste que le projet est né de l'initiative des gars d'UpItUp. Je leur ai suggéré D!HR, mais ils ont préferré limiter les participants aux labels avec lesquels ils étaient déjà en contact.

Sinon un truc qu'il serait sympathique pour les branleurs de mon espèce, bah c'est de mettre dans l'zip le répertoire avec le joli nom déjà tout prêt... Cela n'mange pas d'biscotte et puis comme ça c'est grave la classe quand on déballe son cadeau...

Beaucoup de tubes (que nous avions déjà plebiscités les uns les autres).
Je n'aurais pas fait toujours cette sélection, est-ce que ce sont les labels qui l'on fait ou Up it up ?

La sélection s'est partagée entre UpItUp et les labels (ils ont suggéré des trucs, parfois insisté même pour certains morceaux ;))). Il y avait aussi le cas de Vernon Lenoir qui avait sorti un truc sur chacun de ces labels sauf sur Cock Rock Disco, et il a fallu choisir qui mettrait un morceau de lui. En tout cas, il faut pas le prendre vraiment comme un Best of, parce que c'est impossible de choisir 3 titres et de dire que ce sont les "meilleurs".

Oui, sauf le morceau de Silencide : je voulais en mettre un autre de lui (un truc avec une ambiance un peu plus "dramatique" pour présenter un truc un peu différent - et aussi parce que je ne voulais pas une reprise mais une compo originale), mais Tracky a tellement insisté pour ce morceau que j'ai fini par craquer!
