"Demain est une île" (Tomorrow Is An Island) pren­d Montparnasse comme pré­­texte et comme ter­­rain d’expé­­ri­­men­­ta­­tion pour ima­gi­ner d’autres maniè­res d’habi­ter la ville, ses brè­ches, ses marges ou ses exten­sions. En sep­tem­bre, un ate­lier de dix jours conçu avec l’artiste Jason Wee, pro­­pose d’employer les outils de la science-fic­­tion pour repen­­ser les rela­­tions entre les corps et l’espace urbain qu’ils tra­­ver­­sent, habi­­tent, qui les absorbe ou les rejette. Oeuvres et textes pro­duits au cours de l’ate­lier vien­dront peu­pler l’expo­si­tion comme autant d’îlots témoi­gnant de pos­si­bles uto­pies à réin­ven­ter sans cesse.

Nous avons invité la com­mis­saire et écrivaine Lotte Arndt à être en charge de la pro­gram­ma­tion et des événements liés à l’expo­si­tion "Demain est une île", dans le cadre de sa rési­dence de recher­che à la Villa Vassilieff en par­te­na­riat avec le Goethe Institut.

"Tomorrow Is An Island" (Demain est une île) takes Montparnasse as a pretext and playground to imagine new ways of inhabiting the city, its interstices, its liminal spaces or its extensions. In September, a ten-day workshop conceived with the artist Jason Wee will encourage us to use the tools of science-fiction to rethink the relationship between human bodies and the urban space they go through, occupy, absorb, or reject. Artworks and texts produced over the course of the workshop will come and find their place in the exhibition space, scattered as little islets bearing witness of the possibilities of ever-changing utopias.
